    All Occasion Card Swap

We will be hosting an All Occasion Card Swap for the month of September!!!

For those of you who do not know how a card swap works…….
Participants will sign up for a certain category like Birthday, Thank You, Thinking of You, Get Well, Sympathy, Happy Anniversary/Wedding, and New Baby. Depending on how many people sign up will determine how many cards you will make. For example, if 5 people sign up you would make 2 different cards and would make 4 of each of these. You will have the whole month of September to work on the cards at home and then bring them with you to the October technique class to swap with the others in the swap. You will receive 8 cards that others have made in exchange for the 8 cards you made—just think of all the new ideas you will get from seeing all the cards everyone creates!!! We may separate into two groups if there are a large number of people that sign up to keep the number of cards everyone will make down to just a few.

Sign up sheets will be available at technique class on September 1st. If you aren’t able to come to technique class, email me with the category you would like to sign up for and I will let you know if that category is still available.

How fun would this be and think how great it would be to have a whole new set of cards!! Any questions, please call or email me!! Hope that everyone joins us in this card swap!!

    Cards For The Troops

Last week my Mom received an email update on a blog that she subscribes to about people donating cards for the troops. She forwarded it to me and we are both very excited to help with this project. We were talking and thought it would be fun to have a group of us get together and create as many cards as we can to send to the troops. This is what the blog says about this venture:

We have started a ministry to send cards to our troops that are overseas away from their families. Most of them do not have ready access to cards. Each card and envelope is individually packaged and sealed in it's own protective bag. That way, each "hug" will be protected from the elements while waiting to be chosen as the next card being sent to a loved one. Then, each card is sorted by occasion and placed in a box to be shipped to the soldiers. We hope to expand our efforts to include military personnel all around the world. Wouldn't it be great if each Unit had a "card keeper" who had a readily available supply of cards for his/her troops to choose from. Hopefully, morale will be boosted when they don't have to walk for miles to buy a card for a loved one. They can smile knowing that they sent a special "hug" home to a loved one for a special occasion or just to say hello.

This is a note received from one of the wives from her husband after the first box of cards were shipped:
Todd H.Kuwait"We got the cards last night. Everybody loves them tell Jen thanks and you too. You can mail more cards over here. 100 cards did not last long, about 3 hours. There are over a 100 people in the unit. The ones needed most are Thank you and Miss you.""Tell everybody thanks again if they only knew how many people keep saying thanks."

Mom emailed one of the organizers and told her we would like to be a part of this endeavor and would be sending a box of handmade cards soon. She received an email back and they were very grateful.

So we are thinking we would like to have a "Cards for the Troops cardmaking party" and would love if you would join us. Grab your friends, favorite stamp sets, paper, ink pads, embellishments and any of your other cardmaking supplies and come and join in the fun and help with this worthy cause!! Not only will you be helping out you will be able to get all kinds of ideas from looking at all the different cards everyone will be making!!!! We figured if we could get everyone to make anywhere from 5-10 cards each we could have quite a box of cards to send to them!!! You can make 5 or 10 different cards or make them all the same. We will provide the envelopes to go with the finished cards.

We are thinking we would like to do this soon and are hoping to do it next Sunday afternoon, July 29th from 2-4 at the Community Room in Winfield (where we have the technique classes and Open House). Please let me know if you will be able to attend so we will know how many tables to set up. Hope everyone can come and help with this worthy cause and have some fun too!!!

    Thank you!!
